Moon Granny comes to Bookworm!

Moon Granny in the Park

Bookworm in Shahbuddin Park filled with nakshi kantha enthusiasts on the day Moon Granny, Chader Buri, came to spin her tales.

The Threads of Tales project preview was hosted by textile artist Ibraheem Paling and HerStory Curator Katerina Don. They shared the project origins and their own experiences with Chader Buri.

“My mother remembered the sory of the granny on the moon after she was kidnapped from Dhaka and adopted in the Netherlands. She told the story to me and when we were reunited with her parents, I heard if from my grandmother.”

The threads of connection between generations are threads of tales – passing on family lore, recipes, skills, vital information and attitudes. Following the presentation, the audience was invited to create new stories by using the story prompter.
